TIANCURE ITX
General:
TIANCURE ITX is a highly efficient type II photoinitiator when used in combination with amine synergists (aminobenzoate) to initiate radical photopolymerisation of unsaturated resins such as those based on a prepolymer - e.g. acrylates - in combination with mono- or multifunctional monomers as reactive thinners. It is also widely used as a very efficient sensitizer in combination with type I photoinitiators, absorbing at shorter wavelength, Like e.g. Photointiator 907.
Chemical Composition:
Physical Properties :
Appearance: yellow powder
Melting range: 74-76ºC
Absorption Spectrum (% in Acetonitrile)
Applications :
TIANCURE ITX may be used after adequate testing together with type II photoinitiators like e.g. Photoinitator EDB or other aminobenzoates in UV curable formulations in particular for pigmented coatings and varnishes on wood, metal, plastic, paper, adhesives as well as for printing inks and photoresists. Together with type I photoinitiators like Photoinitator 907 as the most prominent example it works as a very efficient sensitizer boosting the performance of the main initiator substantially.
TIANCURE ITX offers good solubility in common UV reactive systems, e.g. systems based on acrylates or unsaturated polyesters.
The amount of TIANCURE ITX required for optimum performance should be determined in trials covering a concentration range.
Recommended concentration:
0.2-3 % TIANCURE ITX together with 2-5 % of aminobenzoate
0.5-2 % TIANCURE ITX together with 2-6 % of Photoinitator 907
Safety and Handling:
Due to its long wavelength absorption band with an absorption maximum
at 385nm TIANCURE ITX is sensitive to visible light and any exposure to sunlight should be avoided. Opened drums should be closed after use to protect the product against light. TIANCURE ITX should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice.
